What is a tsunami?
A Tsunami is when a group of waves form off the coast and flood land. Unlike a flood, a Tsunami is not caused by excess water but by a disruption of the seabed. The most common cause is an Earthquake but a landslide, eruption or explosion can create such an event as well. The word Tsunami is actually Japanese. 'Tsu' means Harbor and 'Nami' means Wave therefore Tsunami means Harborwave.
